COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING: <br />DECEMBER 9, 1957 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole in <br />the Council Chambers, Monday, December 9, 1957, at 8:13 P.M., with all members present except Cluncilman Muszynski. <br />The meeting was called to order by Councilman George W. Carr, Chairman, who presided. <br />ORDINANCE: <br />AN ORDINANCE CONTROLLING THE OPERATION OF SELF SERVICE LAUNDRIES <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard at the Public Hearing on this Ordinance. Speaking <br />against passage of the Ordinance were the following: William`T .04re; Att6rney'.650 Associates Building, representing <br />Gus C. Brown, Kenneth C. Bruner of.the Sunnymede Cleaners; Gus Browne,;2741 York Road; A. Stephen, Bremen, Indiana, <br />who is a salesman for self- service laundry equipment; Speaking in favor of the Ordinance were the following: <br />Captain William Downs of the South Bend Fire Department; John Brinckley; Verner Lane, City Building Commissioner; <br />Ivan Ingersbi. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Korpal seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE: <br />AN ORDINANCE REZONING A TRACT OF LAND ONE HUNDRED (100) FEET IN DEPTH, AND TWO HUNDRED <br />FIFTY -SIX (256) FEET IN LENGTH, LOCATED AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF BULLA STREET AND <br />ANDERSON AVENUE, FROM "A" RESIDENCE, TO "B" RESIDENCE DISTRICT. <br />Proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard at the Public Hearing on this Ordinance. Speaking <br />against the Ordinance were the following: Otto Seifert, 1401 King Street; A. Fry, 1514 W. Bulla Street; Grover C. <br />McLaughlin, 1610 Medora Street; Steve Jeriak, 1333 West King Street. James Borden, petitioner, spoke in favor of <br />passage of the Ordinance. <br />Councilman Christman made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Glass seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />
