REGULAR MEETING MARCH 11, 1957 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the Council <br />Chambers, Monday, March 11, 1957, with all members present except Councilman Muszynski. President Stanley C. Korpal <br />called the meeting to order at 8:28 P.M., and presided. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Korpal, Carr, Tellson, Christman, Kroll, Glass, Hahn, Erler. <br />ABSENT: Councilman Muszynski. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Carr seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />The Clerk read a petition with 30 signatures of members of the Washington High School P.T.A., addressed to Governor <br />Handley requesting immediate action concerning a truck by -pass around the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the communication.be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Carr seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. 41 <br />COMMUNICATION• <br />The Clerk read a letter from Birch E. Bayh, Jr., State Representative, thanking the Clerk for sending a copy of the <br />Resolution on the Right To Work bill which was passed by the Common Council at the February 11, 1957, meeting. <br />Councilman Carr "made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Kroll seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION• <br />The Clerk read a petition with 78 signatures of members of the John Adams P.T.A., addressed to Governor Handley <br />requesting'immediate action ooncerning a truck by -pass around the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Carr seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />The Clerk read a communication from the United States Conference of Mayors concerning the 1957 Annual Conference at <br />the Waldorf- Astoria Hotel in New York City, September 9 - 11, which communication requested the Clerk to advise the <br />Mayor and Council members of the time and place of the.conference. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Carr seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION• <br />Petition of Melvin Pasalich and Mildred Pasalich to annex a tract of land at the Corner of Fellows Street and Ire- <br />land Road. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion to refer the petition to the Planning Commission. Councilman Glass seconded the motion <br />Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF ORDINANCE COMMITTEE: <br />The Ordinance Committee reported that the Ordinance amending several sections of Ordinance No. 3973, on Heating, is <br />still in committee. <br />REPORT OF DEPARTMENTS: <br />HEALTH DEPARTMENT: <br />City Clerk, Freda G.
