There is also no indication as to whether this amount is for a full year or the
balance o£ x957, and for what period of 1957.
Any salary increase at,this time completely upsets the salary schedule as set by you for 1957. Your own salaries
were set at the beginning of a new year (and even new term) as were all city employees. Furthermore the city salary
bill now being enacted by the State Legislature was amended to be effected at the beginning of 1958.
The 1957 budget provided an increase in this particular, salary of $90 which was the same as received by all other
city employees. But there was also granted a $500 item which is being paid to the Director of Planning in his
capacity as Secretary of the Board of Zoning.Appeals. This total increase of $590 was greater than that received
by any other city employee.
The Civic Planning Association earnestly requests that no change be made in the salary for the Director of Planning
or any other city employee until January 1, 1958 the effective date of the 1958 budget, when all city employees
can be given equal consideration.
Very truly,
.. '.
/sJ George H.
