E� 114J, <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1957 <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Muszynski complained that a junk yard located at 2214 West Dunham Street is being kept in a filthy con- <br />dition so that rats overrun the neighborhood, their fence is in disrepair and allows junk to overflow the sidewalk. <br />Request the Board of Health to have an Officer make an investigation and report back before the next meeting on <br />March 11, 1957. <br />Councilman Muszynski also reported that sewer rats have been seen in the vicinity of the 1300 Block West Grace <br />Street and asked for an investigation of this condition by the Board of Health. <br />Councilman Tellson asked about the advisability of the Health Department buying Salk vaccine and the Council asked <br />that Dr. Carter be present at the next Council meeting, March 11, 1957, to talk to them about this matter. <br />Councilman Tell.son compl..ained that.a filling station at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Main Street allows oil and <br />debris to accumulate on their property and that passersby are splashed by cars going into the driveway. He re- <br />quested an investigation of this condition by the Health Officer and requested a report by March 11, 1957. <br />Councilmen Kroll and Christman asked that the City Engineer investigate complaints they have received about no <br />sidewalks on Humboldt and California Streets west of Wilber Street. They wish to know what can be done as may <br />school children must use these streets an4 as there are no sidewalks, they have to walk in the street. They asked <br />that a report be made at the next Council meeting, March 11, 1957. <br />Councilmen Christman and Kroll ask that something be done about the condition of the Streets around Holy Cross <br />Church, Vassar, Humboldt, California, Wilber and Johnson Streets. They stated that there are extremely large holes <br />in the streets. They asked that the Board of Public Works and Safety make an investigation of this matter and re- <br />port to the Council on March 11, 1957. <br />Councilman Carr reported that he has received complaints that semi- trucks using Route 420 go straight out Colfax <br />Avenue to Gr_eenlawn instead of following the route which turns on Jacob Street and then on to McKinley Street. <br />The Council asked that the Police Department investigate this report and advise the Council of their findins at the <br />March 11, 1957, meeting. <br />Also, the Council requested the Police Department to investigate the parking of trucks across the sidewalk on Lincoln <br />Way East at the Stanz Cheese Company, which block the sidewalk for pedestrians for long periods of time. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Carr second- <br />ed the motion.
