Councilman Carr made a motion for sus- <br />pension of rules. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 <br />absent (Councilman Muszynski). The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, <br />0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Muszynski). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE PENERAL FUND $75.00 TO OFFICE OF THE CITY JUDGE,ACCOUNT <br />E -13; PAUPER ATTORNEY, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR <br />1956 AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading`in full. Councilman Carr made a motion that the <br />ordinance ba set for public hearing on December 10, 1956. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4131 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE OFFICIAL BONDS OF CLEMENT C. FIWEK, AS TREASURER ELECT FOR THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND AS BARRETT LAW FUND CUSTODIAN, BY THE AETNA INSURANCE <br />COMPANY OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, AS SURETY, FOR A PERIOD COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1957, and <br />TERMINATING JANUARY 1, 1961. 1 <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE <br />TO SALARIED CITY EMPLOYEES <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana, is approaching the close of its fiscal year, and, <br />WHEREAS, the office of the City Controller will be required to make numerous payments and close its numerous <br />and complicated accounts; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable that the.work of said office be simplified when possible; now, <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana; <br />SECTION 1. That all salaried officers and employees of the City shall be paid their salaries for the month <br />of December, 1956, on the 20th day of said month. <br />SECTION.2. The Controller of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized to make said salary payments upon <br />said date. <br />SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Resolution be adopted. Councilman Carr seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />by a roll call vote of 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent (Councilman Muszynski). <br />Councilman Tellson spoke about Hungarian Relief and asked about the adoption of a resolution for a tag day. Mr. <br />Irving Smith, City Attorney, stated that the Council would not pass Resolutions concerning tag days but that the <br />Board of Public Works and Safety should be contacted in regard to this matter. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that a letter of appreciation be sent to the Commanding Officer at Loewry Air Base <br />in Colafados, for the courtesy extended the Councilman and other City Officials who visited there. Councilman Kroll <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Carr made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Kroll <br />seconded the motion.
