1151 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />JUNE 27th, 1956 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the Whole <br />meeting, in the Council Chamber, Wednesday, June 27th, 1956, at 7:14 P.M., (C.-S.T. 8:14 P.M., C.D.S.T.) with <br />all members present. <br />ORDINANCE <br />An Ordinance transferring and appropriating from Office of City Clerk C -36 Office Supplies $200.00 to C -725 Office <br />Equipment .(typewriter) $200.00; From Fire Department, Q -11, Service Personal, $10,300.00; to Fire Department, <br />Q -724, Motor Equipment, $5300.00 (Two passenger cars and one truck); To Fire Department, Q -726, Other Equipment, <br />$3,000.00 (Fire Hose); To Fire Department, Q -331, Gasoline, $2,000.00, All of the Budget for the Civil City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, for 1956, and declaring an extraordinary emergency/ <br />Councilman Hahn Made a motion that the Ordinance go to.the Council as favorable. Motion seconded by Councilman <br />Muszynski. Roll Call vote of 9 ayes and 0 nays. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />An Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana, appropriating the sum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) to be <br />applied to the cost of construction, reconstruction and improvement of Streets and expenses incurred in connection <br />therewith. <br />The Presiding Officer announced that the Council was ready to hear all taxpayers interested on the question of the <br />necessity for•the appropriation provided for in said ordinance. <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion to amend the ordinance as follows: (1) Delete subsection 1 of section 1. <br />(2) Change subsection 2 of section 1 to read "Widening, pafing and re- surfacing a portion of East Jefferson <br />Boulevard an area not less than from 26th Street to Logan Street. (3) Change subsection 3 of section 1 to read: <br />"Widening and resurfacing a portion of Indiana Avenue." (4) Adding a new subsection to read: "Paving and resurfac- <br />ing a portion of West Sample Street." The motion was seconded by Councilman Hahn, and carried. <br />Councilman Erler, made a motion that the ordinance, as amended, go to the Council as favorable. Seconded by Council- <br />man Muszynski. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />There being no further business before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, seconded <br />by Councilman Muszynski. Motion carried, and the Committee of the Whole meeting adjourned at 8 :29 P.M. <br />ATTEST: APPROVED: <br />CLERK <br />
