91 <br />C91AMITTEE OF THE YEiOLE (SPECIAL MEETING) AUGUST 31ST, 1953 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in special session in the Council <br />Chamber, on Monday, August 31st, 1953, at 8:00 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Pinter. Chairman <br />Hahn presided. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3937 <br />"An Ordinance appropriating monies for the purpose of defraying the expenses of all budget - operated departments <br />of the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1954, and ending December 31, <br />1954, including departments, funds and commissions for which money is appropriated, in whole or in part, from <br />funds other than the general funds of said city, town: Street, Traffic and Park Departments, Firements Pension <br />and Policemen's Pension Funds, and the City Plan Commissions providing that such appropriations shall include <br />all outstanding claims and obligations; fixing the salaries of all City officials and employees repealing all <br />ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith: providing a time when the same shall take effect ". <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for a 5- minute recess. <br />carried. <br />5-MINUTE RECESS - 9:15 P.M. <br />RECONVENED MEETING - 9:20 P.M. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion <br />Councilman Erler made a motion that if the Underwriterts recommendations as to location of fire station is not <br />accepted that the $50,000.00 for fire station be eliminated from the budget. Councilman Alford seconded the <br />motion. .'Motion lost by a roll call vote of 3 ayes (Councilmen Erler, Alford and Bestle) - 5 nays (Councilmen <br />Korpal, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Muszynski) - 1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that if the Studebaker Corporation does.not build a fire station in the southwest <br />section of the city that the amount of $50,000.00 be earmarked for that purpose. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 5 ayes (Councilmen Korpal, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and <br />Muszynski) - 3 nays (Councilmen Srlers,Alford and Bestle)_ 1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Bestle seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3938 (AS AMENDED) <br />"An Ordinance fixing the Tax Levy for the year 1954 for the Municipal. Civil City of South Bend, Indiana ". <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council favorable as amended. Councilman Bestle <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried• <br />There being nip further business, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Korpal.
