REGULAR AdEETING _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ AUGUST 10TH, 1953 _ -- <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3934 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING <br />ZONING ORDINANCE N0. 3702. <br />(7-1A Acre of land - McKinley Terrace - <br />West side of Hickory Rd. South of Edison Rd.) <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion <br />for suspension of rules. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - <br />0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that a representative of the City Plan Commission appear before the Council <br />relative to annexations and zoning ordinances with information as to location, accompanied with a map or sketch <br />of the section in question. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE N0. 3935 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />P -11 SALARIES $3500.00 TO P -724 MOTOR EQUIPMENT; FROM <br />PUBLIC HEALTH CLINIC U -342 LAUNDRY AND CLEANING $125.00 <br />TO U -38 GENERAL SUPPLIES $125.00 AND FROM U -343 MEDICAL <br />$185.00 TO U -12 TEMPORARY HELP $185.00; ALL OF THE <br />BUDGET OF 1953 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDI NAN C� <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $409000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />TO SANITATION DEPARTMENT AND $3300.00 FROM THE STREET AND <br />TRAFFIC FUND TO STREET DEPARTMENT S -251 REPAIRS OF BUILDINGS <br />AND STRUCTURES, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, ALL OF THE BUDGET <br />FOR 1953 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Korpal made a motion <br />that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />.A, number of residents appeared before the Council from the vicinity of 1600 block W. Dunham and Poland Streets <br />relative to smoke and soot from switching engines. <br />Mr. Irving Hurwich, City Attorney, read a communication stating that a new diesel engine would be put in <br />operation at least two days a week. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the City Attorney contact Mr. Farabaugh that residents would prefer <br />the operationrof the diesel on Monday and Tuesday. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Board of Public Works notify the Chicago South Shore Railway to <br />repair their tracks along LaPorte and LaSalle Avenues with a permanent filling, and also repair the dip in the <br />track in the-,1,1700 block of W. Orange St. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Street Commissioner be instructed to restore the pavement at the <br />intersection of-�'the alley in the 1000 block of Elliott St. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 1 nay (Icahn). <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the Board of Public Works take necessary steps to correct inadequate catch <br />basins in storm sewers in the vicinity of Playland Park along Lincolnway East. Councilman Hahn seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Glass made a motion to adjourn which motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Niezgodski.
