84 <br />�I ORGANIZATION MEETING JANUARY 5TH, 1953 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chamber of the <br />City Hall, Monday, January 5th, 1953, at-7:35 P.M., pursuant to a call for Special Meeting for the purpose of <br />electing officers for the year 1953. The Honorable John A. Scott called the meeting to order and the following <br />Councilmen were presents Councilmen-At-Large Percy Alford, Stanley Korpal and Michael R. Pinter; 1st District, <br />Councilman Cloyd A. Bestle; 2nd District, Councilman Clem Niezgodski; 3rd District, Councilman Walter Glass; <br />4th District, Councilman William A. Hahn; 5th District, Councilman Walter C. Erler, and 6th District, Councilman <br />Chester E. Muszynskie The Clerk read the call and there being no objections the call was accepted and placed on <br />file. <br />The Honorable John A. Scott called for nominations for President of the Council for the year 1953• <br />Councilman Alford nominated Councilman Erler for President of the Council. Councilman Hahn made a motion that <br />the nomination be closed. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously carried. Upon roll <br />call, Councilman Erler received eight votes (Alford, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and <br />Muszynski) - Erler not voting. <br />Councilman Hahn nominated Councilman Korpal for Vice - President. Councilman Alford made a motion that the <br />nomination be closed. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously carried. Upon roll call, <br />Councilman Korpal received eight votes (.Yxler Alford,,;Pint'e"r,,Be'st.le, Niezgodski,, 'Glassi Hain and Muszynski) <br />iorpal mot - voting. <br />There being no tither business, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Bestle.
