835 <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 10TH, 1952 <br />PETITION <br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />COUNTY OF ST. JOSEPH, <br />STATE OF INDIANA. <br />The petitioner, Lamar Austin, of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, represents :. <br />1. That he is the owner of the following described real estate in St. Joseph County, Indiana, to wit: <br />Part of Lot 1025 LaSalle Park 2nd Addition, described as follows:- <br />Beginning at the South East Corner of said tract, thence West 40 <br />feet, thence North 120 feet, thence East 40 feet, thence South 120 <br />feet to the place of beginning, <br />and that it is a vacant lot on the North West corner of Washington and Illinois Streets in the City of South <br />BSnd. <br />2. That the petitioner proposes to build a one (1) story cement block storeroom to be used as a retail <br />store or other commercial business*' <br />THEREFORE;.the said petitioner prays this Honorable Council that the use of said lot above described be changed <br />from residential to commercial, in accordance with the statute and zoning ordinance of the City of South Bend. <br />Dated this 25th day of October, 1952. <br />(Signed) <br />Lamar_ ,Dustin <br />Counoilman Hahn made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Glass <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance transferring monies from H -58 -B, Office of the <br />Board, Building Contingencies, $750 to H -214, Telephone & Telegraph and from Q -341, Fire Department, Clothing <br />& Household, $50 to Q -211, Freight & Express's'. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance go to the <br />Council as favorable. <br />WM. A. HAHN, Chairman <br />Councilman_Niļæ½zgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion <br />P carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South: Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of George W. Williams, et, al. for change of zoning of Lots No. 60 to 75 inclusive in Nest End Addition <br />was given public hearing before the City Plan Commission at its regular meeting September 4, 1952. <br />It was brought out in the hearing that the objective sought in this change was the control of the use of two <br />lots on Lawton- Street at Fremont Street which are now in industrial'use. <br />The owners of these lots did not sign the petition. <br />A change to residence district would not accomplish what they desire in this case. <br />This change is not recommended. <br />Yours truly. <br />D. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3897 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM H -58 -B, OFFICE OF <br />THE BOARD, BUILDING CONTIGENCIES, $750 TO H -214, TELEPHONE <br />& TELEGRAPH AND FROM Q -341, FIRE DEPARTMENT, CLOTHING & <br />HOUSEHOLD, $50 TO Q -211, FREIGHT & EXPRESS. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3898 - <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE ESTIMATED PARKING TJETER <br />FUND FOR 1952 THE SUM OF $5,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF PARKING <br />METERS. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion <br />for suspension 6f:,rules. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of <br />9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />
