766 <br />ORGANIZATION MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chamber of the <br />City Hall, Monday, January 7th, 1952, at 7:32 P.M., pursuant to a call for Special Meeting for the purpose of <br />electing officers for the year 1952. The Honorable John A. Scott called the meeting to order and the following <br />Councilmen were present: Councilmen -at -Large Percy Alford, Stanley Korpal and Michael R. Pinter; lst District, <br />Councilman Cloyd A. Bestle; 2nd District, Councilman Clem Niezgodski-; 3rd District, Councilman Walter Glass; <br />4th District, Councilman William A. Hahn; 5th District, Councilman Walter C. Erler, and 6th District, Councilman <br />'Chester E. Muszynski. The Clerk read the call and there being no objections the call was accepted and placed <br />on file. <br />The Honorable John A. Scott called for nominations for President of the Council for the year 1952. <br />Councilman Glass nominated Councilman Erler for President of the Council. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />that the nomination be closed. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously carried. Upon <br />roll call, Councilman Erler received eight votes (Alford, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and <br />Erler) - 0 nays - 1 absent (Muszynski). <br />Councilman Glass nominated Councilman Korpal for Vice - President. Councilman Hahn made a motion that the <br />nomination be closed. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously carried. Upon roll call, <br />Councilman Korpal received -eight votes (Alford, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Erler) - <br />0 nays - 1 absent (Muszynski). <br />Councilman Alford nominated Councilman Hahn for Chairman of the Committee of the Whole. Councilman Bestle made <br />a motion that the nomination be closed. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously carried. <br />Upon roll call, Councilman Hahn received eight votes (Alford, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn <br />and Erler) 0 nays - 1 absent (Muszynski). <br />Councilman Hahn nominated Councilman /as Member to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Korpal nominated <br />Councilman Niezgodski. Councilman Niezgodski declined the nomination. Councilman Korpal withdrew his <br />nomination and made a motion that the nomination be closed. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion <br />was unanimously carried. Upon roll call, 'Councilman Glass received eight votes (Alford, Korpal, Pinter, Bestle, <br />Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Erler) - 0 nays - 1 absent (Muszynski). <br />There being no other busine.ss, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Bestle.
