Councilman Korpal seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3854 <br />AN ORDINANCE U.IENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 COMMONLY KNOWN <br />AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />(Lots on the westerly side of Lincoln Way East between <br />the Grand Trunk Railway and Miami St.) <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - <br />0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3855 (AS AMENDED <br />AN ORDINANCE REDUCING CERTAIN ITEMS IN THE 1951 SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, MUNICIPAL CIVIL CITY BUDGET AND APPROPRIATING <br />FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF SAID CITY THE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED <br />FIFTEEN ($115.00) DOLLARS, TO CERTAIN OTHER BUDGETARY ITEM <br />OF THE 1951 BUDGET OF SAID CITY, AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY <br />EMERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3856 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACDTA,T. NOVEMBER 26, 1951, BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, BY AND THROUGH ITS BOARD OF PUBLIC <br />WORKS AND SAFETY, AND THE FABRIC FIRE HOSE COMPANY OF INDIANAPOLIS, <br />INDIANA; AND CONTRACTS DATED DECEMBER 3, 1951, WITH CARL :REINKE & <br />SONS; SCANLON ELECTRIC COMPANY, BOTH OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AITD <br />VIC TRIPPEL PLUMBING - HEATING COMPANY OF MISHAWAKA, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion <br />for suspension of rules. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - <br />0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />RESOLUTION <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING.CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE TO <br />SALARIED CITY EMPLOYEES. <br />WHEREAS, the dty of South Bend, Indiana, is approaching theefl,ns_e of its fiscal year, and <br />WHEREAS, the office of the City Controller will'be required to make numerous payments and close its numerous <br />and complicated accounts; and <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable that the work of said office be situp- lifidd'when possible; nqw. <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />Section 1. That all saiarred officers and employees of the City shall be paid their salaries for the month of <br />December, 1951, on the 20th day of said month. <br />Section 2. The Controller of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized to make said salary payments upon said <br />date. <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />A. P. KE1t4PER <br />Member of the Common Council <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the resolution be adopted. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />President Niezgodski thanked his colleagues for their cooperation and expressed hope that their successors "can <br />be good Americans and work together like we did ". President Niezgodski then called upon several city officials <br />and others whose work is associated with the council's activities, which included City Engineer Raymond S. <br />Andrysiak, Water Works Attorney John S. Buczkowski, Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend <br />Civic Planning Association, Inc., and City Attorney Frederick K. Baer. Mr. Baer introduced his successor, Mr. <br />Irving Hurwich. Councilmen Kemper and Tellson also exphessed words of thanks to members of the Council and -others* <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Muszynski made a motion to adjourn, which motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Bestle.
