REGULAR MEETING <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />JULY 23RD. 1951 <br />736 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance requiring the New York Central Railroad Company <br />and the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad Company to provide and maintain automatic flash light signals <br />and short -arm gates at the grade crossing of the tracks of said railroad companies where the same intersect with <br />Western Avenue for the protection of human life, providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing <br />all ordinances in conflict herewith ". <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance go to the Council <br />as favorable. <br />STANLEY C. KORPAL, Chairman <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3828 <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN <br />TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />(190 Acres East of Miami St. and North of Ireland Rd.) <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3829 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL SALARY OF THE SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />CITY COURT PROBATION OFFICER; AND APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL <br />FUND OF SAID CITY THE SUM OF THREE HUNDRED NINETY -EIGHT DOLLARS <br />AND FIFTY CENTS ($398.50) TO THE 1951 BUDGETARY ITEM, SERVICES <br />PERSONAL, IN THE OFFICE OF CITY JUDGE; REPEALING ANY AND ALL <br />CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, AND DECLARING AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />
