733 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING JULY 23RD, 1951 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Committee of the 'Whole <br />meeting in the Council Chamber, Monday, July 23rd, 1951, at 8:13 P.M., with all members present. Chairman <br />Korpal presided. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3829 <br />"An Ordinance fixing the annual salary of the South Bend, Indiana, City Court Probation Officer; and appropriating <br />from the General Fund of said City the sum of Three Hundred Ninety -eight Dollars and Fifty Cents ($398.50) to the <br />1951 budgetary item, Services Personal, in the..Office of City Judge; repealing any and all conflicting ordinances, <br />and declaring an extraordinary emergency ". <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3830 <br />"An Ordinance reducing a certain item in the 1951 South Bend, Indiana, Municipal Civil City Budget, and appropria <br />from the General Fund of said City the sum of Five Hundred Twenty -five ( *525.00) Dollars, to a certain other <br />budgetary item of the 1951 budget of said city, and declaring an extraordinary emergency ". <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilmen Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3831 <br />"An Ordinance reducing certain items in the 1951 South Bend, Indiana, Municipal Civil City Budget, and appropriati <br />from the General Fund of said city the sum of 'Twenty -four Thousand Three Hundred (124,300.00) Dollars, to certain <br />other budgetary items of the 1951 budget of said city, and declaring an extraordinary emergency". <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Bestle seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3832 <br />"An Ordinance requiring the New York Central Railroad Company and the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad <br />Company to provide and maintain automatic flash light signals and short -arm gates at the grade crossing of the <br />tracks of said railroad companies where the same intersect with Western Avenue for the protection of human life, <br />providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances in confliet herewith". <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3833 <br />"An Ordinance requiring the New York Central Railroad Company to provide and maintain automatic flash light signals <br />at the grade .crossing of the tracks of said railroad where the same intersect with Washington Street for the <br />"Protection of human life, providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances in <br />conflict hereof ". <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3834 <br />"An Ordinance req= ring the New York Central Railroad Company, the New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad Compan; <br />and the Indiana Northern Railroad Company to provide and maintain flash light signals and short -arm gates at the <br />grade crossing of the tracks.of said railroads where the same intersect with South Walnut Street for the protection <br />of human life, providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances in conflict here- <br />with ". <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3835 <br />"An Ordinance requiring the New York Central Railroad Company, the Pennsylvania Railroad Company and the New Jersey, <br />Indiana and Illinois Railroad Company to provide and maintain automatic flash light signals and short -arm gates at <br />the grade eorssings at the tracks of said railroads where the same intersect with Kemble Avenue and with Prairie <br />Avenue for the protection of human life, providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all <br />ordinances in conflict herewith ". <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business, Councilman Kemper made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Erler. Motion carried, and the Committee of the Whole meeting adjourned at 8:26 P.M. <br />ATTEST: <br />
