Motion
carried.
COMMUNICATION
Honorable Common Council
City of South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen:
June 14, 1951
At our general membership meeting held this evening the matter of the increase in salary of the Probation Officer
was discussed.
The amount requested is $923.50 for the period July 1 to Dec. 31. This would bring this officer's salary to
$5,250 on an annual basis.
As a matter of comparison this is more than the salary paid the City Engineer or the City Clerk, from the .General
Fund, both of whom are full time officials. It is more than the salary paid the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer
of the County.
The law permits an increase in salary but does not require that we go immediately to the maximum, which this
ordinance sets up.
`We respectfull' request that the amount requested be reduced in keeping with the salaries paid the above mentioned
officials as well as the rest of the City salaries.
Respectfully submitted,
SOUTH BEND CIVIC PLANNING ASSN. INC.
R. Park Wickizer, President
Councilman Kempep_made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Tellson
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
