REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25TH, 1951 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council Chamber, Monday, June 25th, 1951, at 8:27 P.M., with all members present except Councilmen Erler and Korpal. President Niezgodski presided. REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same be approved. Meeting of June 11th, 1951. CLEM NIEZGODSKI ) A. K&APER ) Committee CHESTER MUSZYNSKI ) Councilman:Glass made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion. Motion carried. COMMUNICATION Honorable Common Council City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: June 14, 1951 At our general membership meeting held this evening the matter of the increase in salary of the Probation Officer was discussed. The amount requested is $923.50 for the period July 1 to Dec. 31. This would bring this officer's salary to $5,250 on an annual basis. As a matter of comparison this is more than the salary paid the City Engineer or the City Clerk, from the .General Fund, both of whom are full time officials. It is more than the salary paid the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer of the County. The law permits an increase in salary but does not require that we go immediately to the maximum, which this ordinance sets up. �`We respectfull' request that the amount requested be reduced in keeping with the salaries paid the above mentioned officials as well as the rest of the City salaries.
