DECEMBER 28TH. 1950 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Special Session in the <br />Council Chamber, on Thursday, December 28th, 1950, at 8:15 P.M., with all members present. <br />STATE OF INDIANA ) <br />COUNTY OF ST. JOSEPH) SS: <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND ) <br />CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING <br />To the President, and Members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />Gentlemen: <br />You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by law as Mayor of the City of <br />South Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to <br />meet in the Council Chamber, in the City Hall at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M., Central Standard Time, on <br />Thursday, December 28, 1950, for the purpose of considering and taking action upon the following ordinance <br />and resolution, to-wit: <br />"SAN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE OFFICIAL BONDS OF <br />OLLIE FRIES, AS TREASURER FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, AND AS BARRETT.LAW FUND CUSTODIAN, <br />BY THE TRAVELERS INDEMNITY COMPANY OF HARTFORD, <br />CONNECTICUT, AS SURETY ". <br />ALSO <br />"A RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONVEYANCE OF WAR HOUSING <br />PROJECTS FOR LOW BENT USE TO THE HOUSING AUTHORITY <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BENDt4. <br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this <br />notice on each and every member of the Common Council and make due return of such service of said Special <br />Meeting,,.... <br />Dated this 27th day of December, 1950. <br />GEO. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />for suspension of rules. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - <br />0 nays. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll-call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays. <br />RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING <br />CONVEYANCE OF WAR HOUSING PROJECTS FOR <br />LOW RENT USE TO <br />THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America, acting through the Housing and Home Finance Agency, Public Housing <br />Administration, owns permanent war housing now known as PHA Project No. 12021 consisting of 500 dwelling units, <br />and PHA Projects Nos: 12183 and 12188 consisting of 150 dwelling units located in the City of South Bend, State <br />6f Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS, such housing is no longer needed for purposes of war; and <br />WHEREAS, there exists in said City a need for such housing to be operated as low -rent public housing at rents <br />within the means of low- income families, especially families of living or deceased veterans and servicemen.. <br />which need is not being met by private enterprise, and <br />WHEREAS, such a condition constitutes a menace to the health, safety,.morals and welfare of the inhabitants of <br />the City, and <br />(Continued) <br />
