635 <br />MEETING <br />MAY 22NO, 1950 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber, Monday, May 22nd, 1950, at 8:10 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Bestle. <br />President Erler presided. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the -City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have <br />inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlement <br />May 220 1950 <br />The South Bend Civic Planning Association Inc. whose membership is composed of home owners, urge that South <br />Bend adhere to the traditional policy of private home ownership upon which our community has grown and developed. <br />We therefore recommend the return to the tax rolls of the Kemble Avenue tract and Maggie's Court area through <br />pub lio sale to private purchasers. WALZ, widow, resident of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and petitions the Honorable Common <br />Council of•. -the City of South Bend to amend the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Number 3702, adopted <br />June 13th, 1949, by changing the zoning of Dots Numbered Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9) of John E. Walz, <br />Revised Addition to the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph,-State of Indiana, from "'B" Use and "A" Height <br />and Area Districts to "C" Use and "E" Height and Area Districts. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council <br />Council Chambers, City Hall <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />May 17, 1950 <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety has authorized the following changes and installations: <br />Intersection of Johnson and Florence Streets; Intersection of Kaley and Newcome Streetsj The existing 2500 <br />lumen light on Newcome Street .,to be moved to Meade and Newcome Streets; Sample between Harris and Kosciusko <br />Streets, light to be changed to 4000 lumen; Intersection of Jackson and Dubail Streets, and Jackson and Calvert <br />Streets; Poland Street between Walnut and Webster Streets, and Fisher Street between Walnut and Webster Streets; <br />Intersection of Ewing and Hoke Streets; Intersection of Sommers and Madison Streets. <br />Mr. Qualls informed the Board that the lights ordered in at the following locations have been installed and <br />are now in servicex <br />Sheridan between Huron and Ford Streets; Cottage Grove Avenue between Lincoln Way West and Lindsey; Intersection <br />of Colfax and Adams Streets. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />(Signed) Freda G.
