President Erler presided at the <br />meeting. <br />REPORT OF THE COWITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Comnon Council of the City of South Bend: <br />June 27th, 1949 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance transferring the sum of $80.00 from Account <br />No. R -331, Gasoline and Oil,. Department of Weights and Measures; and the sum of $55.00 from Account No. R -333, <br />Tires and Tubes, Department of Weights and Measures; and also the sum of 150.00 from Account No, R -334, Other <br />Garage and Motor Supplies, `Department of Weights and Measures, to Account No R -251, Repairs of City Scales, <br />Department of Weights and Measures, and declaring an extraordinary emergency. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion thig6rdinance should go to <br />the Council as favorable*, <br />STANLEY Co KORPAL, Chairman <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Glass seconded the motion* <br />Motion carried* <br />REPORT FROM COMMITTEE ON SMOKE ABATEMENT - Letter from Mr. Lammers, Cincinnati, Ohio <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the Mayor appoint�a citizens' committee to work with the Council on this <br />program* Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council <br />Council Chambers, City Hall June 25, 1949 <br />City of South. Bend, Indiana <br />,.Gentlemen: <br />Attached hereto please find copies of ,reports submitted by Mr. William Qualls, Electrical Superintendent, <br />for street lights at the following locations: Lathrop Street and Parkview Place; City Hall Court and Scott <br />Street, Bryan and Darwin Streets; Jefferson Street between Scott and Laurel Streets; Arnold Street between <br />Ford and Dunham Streets. <br />Mrs Qualls informed the Board that lights ordered in at Grant and Parallel Streets; Ewing and. Oliver Streets; <br />Donald:.and Douglas Streets; Donald and Arnold Streets; Emerson and Hildreth Streets; light at Emerson and <br />Riskin Streets changed to a 4000 lumen light; Illinois and Huron Streets; Illinois and Ford Streets; Wellington <br />and Huron Streets; Wellington and Ford Streets; St. Louis and St. Vincent Street; Napoleon and Hill Streets; <br />Roberts and Ruskin Streets; Thirty -fifth and Marshall Avenue'and one midway between Marshall Avenue and <br />Washington Street on Thirty -fifth Street and a 4000 lumen light at the first alley north of South Bend Avenue <br />on Georgiana Street, have been installed and are now in service, <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Freda G.
