REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 14TH, 1949 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber, March 14th, 1949, at 8:08 P.Mr with all members present except Councilman Tellson. President <br />Erler presided at the meeting. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />Gentlemen: <br />March 4, 1949 <br />Petition of George E. and Martha E. Weaver for change of zoning of an unplatted parcel of land on the south <br />side of Mishawaka Ave. midway between Roberts Street and Emerson Street from "B" residonce district and "A" <br />height and area district to "C" commercial district and "D" height and area district has gone through public <br />hearing before the City Plan Commission. <br />This change is recommended as petitioned for. <br />D. MOOMAW, Secretary <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend _ March 4, 1949 <br />Gentlement. <br />Petition of Otto Gratzol for change of zoning of Lots #94 and +95 in Hartman and Miller Plat from "B" residence <br />and "A"- height and area district to "C" aommercial and "D" height and area District has been considered by the <br />City Plan - Commission. <br />This change is not recommended. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the report be accepted. <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF. Motion <br />March 10, 1949 <br />Attached hereto please find copies of reports submitted by Mr. lElliam Qualls, Electrical Superintendent, on <br />'petitions for street lights at -the following locations: Oakside and Fellows Streets; 36th and Vine Streets; <br />28th and Hastings Streets; Michigan and Bowman Streets; Thomas and Maple Streets; Longley and Huey Streets; <br />Miner and "Walsh Streets; Indiana and Swygart Streets. <br />Mr. Qualls also informed the Board that lights ordered in at Meade and Napier Streets; Elm Street at alley <br />between Colfax and Washington Streets; Sorin and Arthur Streets:; Brookfield midway in block between Marquette <br />and Hamilton Streets; Southwest corner of Portage and Leland; Portage and Yukon Streets; Southwest corner of <br />York Road and Ridgedale Roads, had been installed and are now in service. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />Freda G. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331 COMMONLY KNOWN AS <br />THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion <br />that the ordinance be referred to the Council at its next regular meeting on March 28th, 1949. Councilman <br />Bestle seconded the motion.
