543 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend that it urge members from <br />St. Joseph County and all other members of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, to exert all force <br />and influence necessary for the passage'of House Bill Number 17; said Common Council further respectfully <br />request that the Mayor and President of the Council be notified of all publie hearings to be held on said <br />Bill in sufficient time that members of said administration may attend such hearings and be heard on the <br />efficacy of this problem and further respectfully request that the Council be kept informed on the progress <br />of said Bill. <br />IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to forward copies of this Resolution to each member <br />of the General Assembly in the State of Indiana from St. Joseph County and also to send a copy to Honorable <br />Henry J. B ranning, Jr., Mayor of the City of Fort Mayne and to Mr. Lee Ninde, President of the Citizens' <br />League at Fort Wayne, Indiana. <br />(Signed) MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />Councilman Tellson made a motion to adopt the resolution, and that the instructions forthwith be carried out. <br />Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />MOTIONS <br />Councilman Rorpal :Wade e, motion that a committee be appointed to study ways and means of either widening <br />Western Avenue or seeking state help in a by -pass route for trucks. Councilman Muszynski secohded.the motion. <br />Motion carried. :President Erler appointed the Transportation Committee with Councilman glass as Chairman to <br />investigate the above condition. a <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion�to seek ways anda?R nstaf correcting a smoke situation involving the burning <br />of 8,000 bushels of corn cobs -daily in an incinerator by the South Bend Elevator Company, 901 So. Olive Street. <br />Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
