:x <br />..535 <br />JANUARY 3RD. 1949 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, mat in the Council Chambers of <br />the City Hall, Monday, January 3rd, 1949, at 8:10 P.M. for the purpose of electing officers for the year 1949. <br />The Honorable Mayor George A. Schock called the meeting to order and the following Councilmen were present: <br />Councilmen -at -Large Stanley Korpal and Albert Tellson; let District, Councilman Cloyd A. Bestle; 2nd District, <br />Councilman Clem Niezgodski; 3rd District., Councilman Walter Glass; 4th District, Councilman Alvin P. Kemper; <br />5th District, Walter C. Erler, and, 6th District, Councilman Chester E. Muszynski, <br />Councilman -at -Large Tellson nominated Councilman Erler as president of the Council. Councilman Glass seconded <br />the nomination. Councilman Muszynski placed the nay of Councilman Niezgodski for president of the Council. <br />Councilman Niezgodski thanked Councilman Muszynski for his consideration and the confidence placed in him as <br />president in the past and declined the nomination. Councilman Muszynski with -drew his nomination. Councilman <br />Korpal made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion. The Clerk was <br />instructed to cast a unanimous vote of the Council for Councilman Erler as president of the Council. <br />Councilman Glass nominated Councilman Tellson as vice- president. Councilman Bestle seconded the nomination. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. The <br />Clerk was instructed to cast a.unanimous vote of the Council for.Councilman Tellson as vice- president of the <br />Council, <br />There being no other business before the Council, Councilman Glass made a motion to adjourn, *hibh motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Beetle.
