Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session,
<br />in the Council Chambers, City Hall, August 25th, 1947, at 10 :17 P.M., with all members present.
<br />President Brannan presided. The reading' of the Minutes of the previous meeting was waived.

<br />We the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to improve 30th Street No, of the Grand Trunk
<br />Railroad crossing by oiling or black topping same similar to work done on Fellows Street from Eckman to
<br />Southmore Housing Project.

<br />Councilman Bishop made a motion that the petition.be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety.

<br />August 21, 1947.
<br />Upon Mr. Quails recommendation, the Board has ordered street lights installed at Victoria Street at the alley
<br />intersection, Euclid and Walnut Streets and Orchard and Monson Streets as per the attached reports.
<br />Mr. Qualls informed the Board that the light ordered in at the dead -end of Almond Court had been installed
<br />and was now in service.

<br />Police Department, to P -726, Other Equipment, Police Department, $2,400.00, Declaring an emergency,
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance shall be reported
<br />to the Council as-favorable.

<br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE MOLE •
<br />To The Common Council of the City of South Bend: August 25th, 1947.
<br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred an Ordinance appropriating moneys for the purpose of
<br />defraying the expenses of all budget - operated department of the civil City of South Bend, Indiana, for the
<br />fiscal year beginning January 1, 1948, and ending December 31, 1948, including departments, funds and commissions
<br />for which money is appropriated, in whole or in part, from funds other than the General Hunds of said City, to -wit:
<br />Street, Traffic and Park Department, Firemen's Pension and Policemen's Pension Funds, and the City Plan
<br />Commission; providing that such appropriations shall include all outstanding claims and obligations; fixing the
<br />salaries of all City Officials and Employees; providing paid vacations for certain officials and employees;
<br />repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith; providing a time when the same shall. take
<br />effect.
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the Ordinance be approved by
<br />the Committee of the Whole and reported back to the Common Council with the recommendation that the same be
<br />passed as Anended by the attached proposed Amendments.

<br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE TEOLE
<br />To The Common Council of the City of South Bend:
<br />August 25th, 1947.
<br />Your Committee of the Mbole to whom was referred an Ordinance fixing the Tax Levy for the Year 1948 for the
<br />Municipal Civil City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the General Fund should be
<br />amended to read(.84)(eighty -four cents instead of(.944) ninety -four cents and 4 mills; mid that the Street
<br />and Traffic should be amended to read thirteen cents (.13) instead of sixteen cents and 7 mills; and that the
<br />Ordinance shall be reported to the Council favorable as amended.
