Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session, in
<br />the Council Chambers, City Hall, July 14th, 1947, at 7 :45 P.M., with all members present except Councilman
<br />Mirocha. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was waived. President Brannan presided.

<br />The undersigned; owners of the property herein described respectfully petition your honorable body to amend
<br />Ordinance #2331, commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, as it applies to lots
<br />578 and 579 in the 3rd. Plat of Summit Place, changing the zoning classification from B Residence and A Height
<br />and area district to D light industrial and E Height and area district.,

<br />COMMUNICATION
<br />Arcommunication from Mayor Dempsey, dated July 14th, 1947, addressed to the CommQQ�� ouncil,, concerning the
<br />proposed budget for 1948, was not read upon motion of Councilman Bishop to dispense reading of this letter,
<br />and that it pe placed on record and that a copy be given to the local newspaper. Councilman McCarthy
<br />seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />COMMUNICATION
<br />A communication from M. T. Cummings, City Controller, dated July 12th, 1947, addressed to the Hon. F. Kenneth
<br />Dempsey, Mayor of South Bend," was read by the Clerk.' This letter refers to a report that is attached, of the
<br />various estimated amounts required for each executive department together with an estimate of the necessary
<br />percentages of the taxes levied for the year, 1948.
<br />Councilman Richardsom made a motion that the report be adopted. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion.
<br />Councilman Richardson withdrew his motion and Councilman Niezgodski withdrew his second.

<br />We the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to improve and install. a street light at the
<br />corner of Sunnyside and Sorin Streets.

<br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

<br />Gentlemen:
<br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred,an Ordinance transferring monies from the General Fund of the
<br />City of South Bend and appropriating said sums for'the uses and purposes of the following budgetary items,
<br />to -wit: To Q -38, General Supplies, Fire Department, $ 500.00;-To W:11,,Personal services and nurse hire, Health
<br />Department, $733.28; To H -251, Repair of Building, $3,000.00; To H -51, Insurance, $1,000.00; To K -31, Food,
<br />Dog Pound, $50 00, declaring'an emergency,
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance shall be
<br />reported to the Council as favorable.,

<br />Respectfully rreport that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance shall be
<br />reported to the Council as favorable.

<br />REPORT OF THE CITY ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT
<br />To The Honorable Board of Public 'Yorks and Safety.
<br />Gentlemen:
<br />July 14, 1947.
<br />Columbia Street at Milton Street is practically a 20 ft. alley, but there are homes facing on it North of Milton
<br />Street which are in complete darkness at night, and complaint is made of .prowlers.
<br />For the benefit of the people who live on Columbia Street, north of Milton Street, I recommend the installation
<br />of a 1000 lumen light, overhead construction, to be mounted on a pole now located at the intersection of
<br />Columbia & Milton Streets. The annual cost will be $19.20. Respectfully submitted, Ala F. Qualls, Supt.
