REGULAR <br />Be it remembered-that the Common Council of-the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, May 12th, 1947,'at 7 :32 P.Mev with all members present except Councilmen, <br />Hull and Korpal. President Brannan presided. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was: <br />waived. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />A letter from G. W. Dzikowski, Secretary of the Polish- American Businessmwd s Assn, dated May 3rd, together <br />with a Resolution, regarding the parking issue confronting the City of South Bend,,was read by the Clerk. <br />Councilman Bishop made a motion that the - communication and resolution be referred to the Traffic Commission. <br />Councilman Niezgodski mconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION: <br />To The Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />South Bend, Indiana, <br />May 9th, 1947. <br />Gentlemen:. <br />We the undersigned petitioners have entered into an agreement to purchase the following property <br />located on East Marion Street, and legally described as follows: <br />Lots 117 and 118 and a part of Lot 116 and part of the vacated Street <br />lying Rest of said Lots as shown in the Original Plat of the Town, now <br />the City of South Bend, described as follows: Beginning on the South line <br />of Marion Street 201 feet East of the Northwest corner of Lot Numbered 130 <br />in said Original Plat; thence South 148.34 feet; thence`East 254 feet; thence <br />South 46.66 feet; thence East 155.22 feet, more or less, to the St. Joseph n <br />River; thence Northeasterly along the West Line of St. Joseph River to its <br />intersection with the South line of Marion Street; thence Test along the South <br />line of Marion Street 324.28 feet, more or less., to the place of beginning. <br />We, therefore, respectfully petition your Honorable Body to amend Ordinance +2331, adopted June 15, <br />1923, otherwise known as the Zoning Ordinance, changing the above described property from B. Residential to <br />C Commercial with no change in the Height and Area District. <br />The above property is being purchased for the sole and only purpose of erecting a Modern Medical <br />Clinical Building and provided the petition is granted we intend'to complete the transaction and as soon as <br />building conditions permit we will proceed with the construction. <br />The proposed building will cost approximately a quarter million dollars and preliminary plans <br />which have been executed by a local Architectural Firm indicate a building that will not only be a credit <br />to the immediate vicinity but to the entire community. <br />Very respectfully, <br />(signed) W. Councilman <br />McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE CITY.PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council City of <br />South Bend. <br />Gentlemen: <br />May 5,; 1947. <br />Petition of Drewry`s Ltd, U.S.A., Inc., for change of zoning classification of a tract of unplatted land <br />immediately adjoining the land occupied by their present plant and extending 32 feet south from A Residence <br />district and A height and area district to D light-industrial cad F height and area district was considered <br />by the City Plan Commission at the Regular Meeting,'May 1, 1947. <br />This change is recommended as petitioned for. <br />D. MOOMAW, Seely <br />Councilman Bishop made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />I 66 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDATORY OF ORDINANCE NO. 23al, ADOPTED <br />BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF TEiE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />ON JULY 25th, 1923, COMMONLY KNO'UN AS THE "ZONING ORDINANCE" (Drewry's Limited,USA,Ine.) <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading. I Councilman Bish &p made a motion that the;Ordinance be referred <br />to the Committee of the Whole for Public Hearing on the 26th day of May, 1947, at 7 :30 P.M.
