II REGULAR MEETING MARCH 31st, 1947 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regular Session in the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, March 31st, 1947, at 7 :40 P.M., with all members present. President Brannan <br />presided. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was.. waived. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />A communication from the South Bend Parking Company., Inc., By,.Samuel Coffman, President, dated March 19th, and <br />1947, with reference to the report entitled "The South Bend Parking Problem ".was read by the Clerk. <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the communications be turned over to the City Attorney so that he tali <br />acquaint himself with the report in question. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF ZiE VEOLE <br />To The Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />March 31, 1947. <br />Your Committee of the thole, to whom was referred and Ordinance fixing the 'salaries of certain City "Official "s <br />and Employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana, effective January 1, 1948, and repealing all: ordinances <br />and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this Ordinance shall be <br />reported favorably to the Council. <br />William J. Councilman Ni ezgodski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF. :THE BOARD OF TnRKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council, <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indianat <br />Gentlemen: <br />March 31, 1947. <br />At a regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety,_ Mr. Qualls, Electrical Superintendent, informed <br />the Board that street lights ordered in at Orange and Brokfield Streets, Orange and College Streets, Donald <br />and Scott Streets, Francis ami Howard Streets, 28th and Pleasant Streets and Corby Street at the entrance to <br />St. Louis Boulevard had all been installed and are now in service. <br />We have no further reports from Mr. Qualls on the request made by.your honorable Body, due to illness in his <br />department which has prevented him from making investigations. <br />VERY TRULY YOURS, <br />^�. Motion carried. <br />F <br />ORDINANCE N0. 3593 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIRING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS • <br />AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, EFFECTIVE <br />JANUARY 10 19480 AND REPEALING ALL - ORDINANCES AND PARTS.OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREY'IITH. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of,-9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE N0, 3594 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL <br />PROPERTY BY 7EIE CITY OF SOUTH BEND. <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for suspension of <br />rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried,by a roil call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AND'.1APPROPRIATING SAID SUMS FOR THE <br />USES AND PRUPOSES OF THE FOLLOWING.BUDGETARY ITEMS; TO -WIT- <br />TO P221, ELECTRIC SERVICE, POLICE DEPARTMENT, $300.00; TO K712, <br />OTHER STRUCTURES,. $200.00; AND TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM THE STREET <br />AND TRAFFIC FUND 7D THE FOLLOTaNG BUDGETARY ITEM, TO -WITr TO 5262, <br />MISCELLANEOIISSURGICAL SUPPLIES, DECLARING AN EMERGECNY. <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niesgodski made a motion to refer the Ordinance <br />to the Committee of 'the 1hole for public hearing the 14th day of April,. 1947, at 7 :30 P.M. Councilman Bishop <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO, 3595 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL <br />PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading.
