<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South oend, Indiana, met-in regular session
<br />in the Council Chambers, City Hall; on Monday. February'llth, 1946, at 7 :30 P.M., with all members
<br />present except Councilman McCarthy, Richardson and Hull. The.reading of the Minutes of the previous
<br />meeting was waived.
<br />COMMUNICATIONS:
<br />A letter from Allen J. F41ender, United States Senator,_ acknowledging receipt of a copy of the Resolution
<br />passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, on December 28th, 1945,.in reference to House
<br />Bill #S -1592, was read. Councilman Bishop made a motion that the communication be placed on file.
<br />Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />A letter from Ed C. Powers, Direetor, Office of Information Services, The Street and Traffic Safety
<br />Lighting Bureau, Cleveland, Ohio, regarding a nationwide program to familiarize the public, through
<br />publicity and other means, regarding how street-lighting can be applied to increasing traffic safety,
<br />reducing crime and the enhancing of real estate, business.and industrial values and civic pride, was
<br />read. Councilman Heideman made a motion that the communication be acknowledged and placed on file.
<br />Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. 'Motion carried.

<br />A letter from James P. Conboy, Clerk of-the Board of Public Works abd Safety, enclosing letter from
<br />Ernest H. Miller, City_ Traffic'Engineer, regarding the need of a traffic signal at Twyckenham Drive
<br />and Mishawaka Avenue, was read. Councilman Brannan made s motion that the communication be placed
<br />on file.. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion._ Motion carried.

<br />part of Lot No. 105 of Bercliff Estate, Block A, which is now Zoned A residence and A Height and
<br />area.distriets to C Commercial and D Height and area districts;

<br />to amend'Ordinance No. 2331, Commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance, as it applies to:
<br />- A part of large lot numbered fourteen (14) in Samuel'L. Cottrell's First Addition to the
<br />Town of Lowell, now a part of the City of South Bend, which part is bounded by a line running
<br />as follows; viz: Beginning at the.South west corner of said Lot Number Fourteen (14,), thence
<br />North Twelve (12) rods; thence East Ten'(10) rods; thence South Twelve (12) rods; thence West
<br />Ten (10) rods to the place of beginning, Said Lot is bounded on the West by North Notre Dame
<br />Ave., and on the South by East Colfax Ave., in the City of South Bend, Ind.

<br />AN ORDINANCE CHANGING SOUTH OLIVE STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH WESTERN AVENUE
<br />TO ITS INTERSECTION WITH WEST SAMPLE STREET, FROM A STREET TO A BOULEVARD AND GIVING
<br />THE CARE AND CONTROL THEREOF TO THE BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
<br />BEND, INDIANA.
<br />The Ordinance was given first and seconed reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the
<br />ordinance be set for public Hearing on February 25th, 1946. Councilman Mirocha seconded the motion.
<br />Motion carried.
<br />There being no further business, Council adjourned at 7 :55 P.M.
