MEETING <br />387 <br />JULY 9th. 1945. <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of`South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session <br />in the Council Chambers, City hall, on Monday, July 9th, 1945, at 7 :35 P.M., with all members present <br />except Councilmen,.Richardson and McCarthy. President Mirocha presided. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting was waived. <br />A Communication from Chas. H. Jones, Vice President and General Manager of the Chicago South Shore <br />and 'South Bend Railroad, regarding the oiling of Orange Street, was ordered placed on file on motion <br />of Councilman Niesgodski, seconded by Councilman Hull. <br />REPORT OF THE COM41ITTEE OF THE THOLEF: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred "An Ordinance Transferring the amount of x'2700.00 <br />from the budgetary'Aceount No. Qll in the Budget of the City of South Bend to the General Fund of the <br />City of South Bend, and appropriating from the General Fum3 of the City of South °end from the follow- <br />ing accounts the specific amounts indicated, to -wit: $1,000.00 to budgetary Account No. H233, $1500.00 <br />to budgetary Account No. Q321, x200.00 to budgetary Account No. V321,.and appropriating from the Street <br />and Traffic fund of the City of South Bend $400.00 to budgetary Account No. S51; declaring an emergency "p <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and thatin their opinion the ordinance shall be <br />reported favorably. <br />JOHN MIROCHA, CHAIRMAN PRO -TEEM <br />Councilman'Niedzgodski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE ITO. 3529 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE AMOUNT OF $2700.00 FROM THE BUDGETARY ACCOUNT NO. Qll IN THE <br />BUDGET OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND APPROPRIA- <br />TING FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTTi BEND FROM THE FOLLOWING ACCOUNTS THE SPECIFIC <br />AMOUNTS INDICATED, TO -MIT: $1,000.00 TO BUDGETARY ACCOUNT NO. H233m $1500.00 TO BUDGETARY <br />ACCOUNT NO. 021, $200.00 TO BUDGETARY ACCOUNT NO. S51; DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY <br />The .ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes- O nays - 2 absent <br />(Richardson and McCarthy) <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3530 <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPRAISAL OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE OWNED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, IND11NA, TO-WIT- LOTS NUMBERED 26, 270 28 and 29 IN MILLER AND GREEN'S SECOND ADDITION <br />TO THE TOWN OF LOltUL, NO`Av A PART OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: AUTHORIZING PROPER OFFICERS OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO SELL AND CONVEY SAID PROPERTY FOR NOT LESS THAN THE APPRAISED <br />PRICE: DECLARING AN H:IERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for the suspension <br />of rules. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 2 absent. <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nayes - 2 absent.(Richardson <br />and McCarthy) <br />Councilman John Mirocha, President of the Council, appointed Councilman, Richardson, Korpal and Bishop, <br />to work with the Mayor, the heads of the Department and a committee from the employees of each department, <br />in regard to the 1946 budget. <br />Councilman Brannan, made a motion that the Board of Works and Safety, instruct the Traffic Engineer to <br />take steps to install a traffic light at the corner of Mishawaka Avenue and Twyckenham Drive. If some <br />definite action is not taken before the next meeting, a resolution will be prepared and presented to the <br />Council. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion.
