<br />REGULAR MEET-IFG MAY' 14th, 1945
<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council'of the City of South Bend., met in regular session in the Council
<br />Chambers, City _call, on londay, May 14th, 1945, with all members present. President Mirocha presided. The
<br />reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was waived.
<br />Jesse I. Pavey, Tayor of the City- of South Lend, appeared before the ? members of the Common Council of the
<br />City of South ?fiend, and submitted his resignation to the members of the Common Council of the City of South
<br />Bend. Councilman McCarthy accepted the resignation on behalf of the members of the Council.
<br />F. Kenneth Dempsey, who was appointed Controller of the City of South Lend, who automatically became Acting
<br />Mayor of the City of South Bend, appeared before the members of the Common Council of the City of South Lend,
<br />and pledged that he would make every effort to fulfill the obligations of the Acting Mayor of the :City of
<br />South Bend, to the best of his ability.
<br />REPORT OF THE STREETS, ALLEYS A` ?D', BRIDGES COMMITTEE
<br />Councilman Bishop made a motion that the Streets, Alleys and Bridges Committee's report be accepted and
<br />concurred with, and that a copy of the report be sent to the Mayor. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion.
<br />Motion carried.

<br />The report of the 'City Clerk of South Lend for 1944, was read and accepted on motion of Councilman Richardson.
<br />Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried.

<br />Hr. Brannon reported that complaints have been received retarding street lights being broken in the River Park
<br />area. Potion was made by Mr. Brannon that the South Bend Police Department be notified to be aon the alert
<br />and that the South Bend Tribune give it some publicity. Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion
<br />carried.
