0 �, <br />Be it remembered that t?:e Common Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session in the Council Chambers, <br />City Hall, on Monday, March 12, 1945 with all members present. President Mirocha presided. The reading of the <br />minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />REPORT OF THE COIDMITTEE OF THE 11.:70LE: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />March 12, 1945 <br />Your,.Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance transferring $1,732.32 from the General Fund of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana to Budgetary Item V -11, waves and salaries in the budget of the Electrical Department <br />of the City of South Bend for the calendar year 1945; appropriating said sums for the uses and purposes of said <br />budgetary item: declaring an emergency. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the ordinance shall be reported <br />favorably. <br />VV,AF1. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3519 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING $1732.32 FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, TO BUDGETARY ITEM V -11, V,,.AGES AND SALARIES IN THE BUDGET OF THE ELECTRICAL <br />DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1945; APPROPRIATING SAID <br />SUMS FOR THE USES AND PURPOSES OF SAID BUDGETARY ITEM; DECLARING AN RAERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9,ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE .(as- .amended) <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING $7,158.00 FRO° THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />TO BUDGETARY ACCOUNT NO. P724, MOTOR EQL'IP%N1ENT - IN THE BUDGET OF THE POLICE DEPART- <br />- ; DECLARIG AY 9AERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Brannan made a motion to amend the ordinance by the <br />addition to Paragraph 5, Section 3 as follows: "since the funds obtained from the sales of the used cars were paid <br />directly to the General Fund of the City ". Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman <br />Niezgodski made a motion to set the ordinance for public hearing on March 26. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION <br />WORLD WAR II M13lORIAL <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend should pay fitting public tribute to its sons and daughters who have served in the <br />nationts armed forces, and <br />WHEREAS, public recognition should be in the form of a Civic Auditorium, or some other worthwhile Living Memorial, <br />which can be used b�y the returning members of the United States Armed forces and future generations, which will be <br />a lasting tribute to these men and women who gave their services and their lives that this Nation should forever <br />remain free. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South Bend that a memorial project be'erected to <br />the men and women of South Bend who are serving in the Nation's armed forces and that the South Bend Post -Iffar Plan - <br />ning Committee be requested to give consideration and study to the erection of such a Memorial. <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion to accept the Resolution. <br />GEO. H. HE I DEMAN - 'March 12, 1945 <br />Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />President Mirocha appointed the following permanent Transportation Committee: Stanley C. Korpal (.Chairman), Walter <br />A. Bishop, John M. 'NcCarthy, George H. Heideman and William J. Richardson.
