335 <br />MEETING MAY 10, 194a <br />Be it remembered that the members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session in the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, May 10, 1943, at 7:30 P.11. with all members present. President Brannan - preside <br />The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />C01`�t+(Ii TNICATION <br />A communication from Alex Ewald, regarding school caution signs, was read and upon motion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />seconded by Councilman Niezgodski, was referred to the Board of Safety. <br />PETITION <br />To the Common.Council of the City of South Bend, Ind. <br />January 12, 1943 <br />We the undersigned wish to change the present A Zone of Dubail Ave. E. and Dayton St. east, from Michigan St. S.east <br />to High St. and from the alley South of Indiana E. South to the alley south of Dayton St. E. Make this portion of <br />South Bend B Zone instead of the present A Zone. <br />Councilman Bishop made a motion to refer the petition to the zoning board. Councilman Richardson seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO.3449 <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SOUTH BEND CITY BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS TO CONDEMN PROPERTY <br />FOR PUBLIC USE. <br />Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />That the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana be and is hereby authorized tot ak e all the nec- <br />essary steps to effect the condemnation and acquisition of the following- described property immediately south of the <br />(City Hall in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, to -wit: <br />All of Lot No. Eight (8) of the Original Plat of the City of South Bend, except the <br />North Twenty -two (22) feet thereof. <br />The ordinance was given first and second readings. Councilman Richardson made a motion for the suspension of rules. <br />Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried by roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. The ordinance was given <br />third reading and passed by roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the city attorney be instructed to write an ordinance prohibiting dogs to <br />Iran at large. Councilman H eideman seconded the motion. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Board of Works be notified to contact the railroad companies and work <br />out some plan to take care of crosswalks at railroad intersections.
