331 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session in the Council Chambers, <br />City Hall, Monday, February 8, 1943, with all members present. President Brannan presided. The reading of the <br />minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />PETITION <br />South Bend City Council <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Sir: <br />1 -2 -1943 <br />I would like to suggest a bus terminal at Sheridan Ave. and Sample Street directly across the street from Belleville <br />Lumber Company to accomodate patrons from Belleville Garden Home (a hundred house built recently by Copaert Realty <br />Co). and Sample Street factory district. <br />I would suggest a train shed half enclosed for what business equipment necessary to handle traffic and waiting sta- <br />tion balance solidly filled with cinders. <br />Kindly give this careful attention. Sands, Atty.) <br />We the undersigned property owners residing and owning property on 'Nerwinski Street as shown on the record plat of <br />Caufman addition in South. Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, do hereb;7 separately and collectively petition the City <br />Council that the name of the aforesaid street be changed from "Werwinski Street" to "McArthur Place ". We, the under- <br />signed, are the owners of all improved lots on this short street, consisting of two blocks. The second ordir+ <br />ante and agreement covered "For the improvement of South Main Street from Chippewa Avenue to a point 366 feet nort h <br />of Farneman Avenue in said City and being designated as Project Number DA -IATI 13 B(1)." <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion to submit the ordinances and agreements to the Board of Works for review and the <br />Board to report at the next Committee of the Whole meeting. These ordinances and agreements also to be referred to <br />the Streets and Alle;Ts Committee. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Richardson made a motion that a member of the Health Department be present at the next meeting of the <br />Council to answer questions about .Horse Meat. Councilman Niezrpods!r A seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Richardson mar?o a notion that one of the standing committees meet with the Mayor and the Board of Works <br />to revamp the Council Chambers to be more accessible to the public. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the Police Department investigate the dumping of cans and bottles over the <br />streets of South Bend and make a report to the Council at the next meeting. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />
