330 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, January 4, 1943, for the purpose of electing officers for the year 1943. Mayor J. I. Pavey presided and asked for nominations for president. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for the nomination of Melton Brannan for the presidency of the Council. Council. man Mirocha seconded the motion. Councilman Hull made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Brannan elected to the office of president by unanimous vote. Mayor Pavey requested President Brannan to take the chair. President Brannan asked for nominations for the vice - presidency. Councilman Richardson made a motion for the nomination of Councilman Hull. Councilman McCarthy sec the motion. Councilman Bishop made a motion that the nominations be closed. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Hull elected vice- president by unanimous vote. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that Councilman Richardson be nominated as Chairman of the Committee of the Whop Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Councilman McCarthy made a motion to close the nominations. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Councilman Richardson elected Chairman of the Committee of the ZNhole by unanimous vote. Councilman Richardson made a motion to nominate.Mayor Pavey as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to close the nominations. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mayor Pavey elected Chairman of the Finance Committee by unanimous vote.
