31'7 <br />Be it remembered that the members of the Common Council met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, <br />Monday, August 10th, 1942, at 7:40 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Brannan. President Pulaski pre- <br />sided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />A communication from Congressman Robert A. Grant,relative to a resolution adopted by the Common Council of South <br />Bend requesting the naming of a navy cruiser "South Bend "', was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on file. <br />A: communication from Mrs. L.M. Crosby Coffman, suggesting a traffic light at the intersection of E. Fairview and <br />Michigan Streets, was read by the Clerk and upon the motion of Councilman Heideman, seconded by Councilman Jordan, <br />the communication was referred to the City Traffic Engineer. <br />REPORT OF THE CCMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />8 -10 -42 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2331, passed by the Common <br />Council June 25, 1923 and commonly known as the w ning ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana" <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be reported t <br />the Council favorably. <br />LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Hull seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINA.NCR N0. 3425 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2331, PASSED BY THE COPIRTON COUNCIL JUNE 25, 1923 <br />AND COT&ONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Brannan). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF CALHOUN STREET TO GARLAND ROAD. <br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion-that the ordinance be referred <br />to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 24th. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion.
