<br />Be_it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council 
<br />Chambers, City Hall, at 7:40 P.M. with all members present. Upon the request of President Pulaski, Vice President 
<br />Hull presided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived.

<br />Councilman Bishop made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried. 
<br />City Attorney Le-ny made a verbal report to the Council regarding a request made by C. R. Dunnuck to investigate a 
<br />building condition in his local neighborhood. On motion made by Councilman Jordan the matter was referred to the 
<br />Grievance Committee of the Council. This motion was seconded by Councilman Bishop and carried by unanimous vote. 
<br />ORDINANCE 
<br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE AMOUNT OF THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000.00) FROM THE 
<br />GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND TO THE ACCOUNT KNOWN AS ACCOUNT #H -35, RA.ERGENCY 
<br />COAL ACCOUNT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AND 
<br />APPROPRIATING THE SAID SUM FOR THE PURCHASE OF COAL FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF THE CITY 
<br />OF SOUTH BEND. 
<br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the ordinance be referred 
<br />to the Committee• of the Whole for public hearing at the next meeting on June 22, Councilman Heideman seconded the 
<br />motion. Motion carried. 
<br />13ES OLU T ION 
<br />WHEREAS, the Avalon Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. +48 of South Bend, in cooperation with the Hoosier State Yacht Club, propose 
<br />to hold a.boat race on the St. Joseph River Sunday afternoon, June 28, 1942, and 
<br />Y.1HEREAS, in order to effectually realize any funds by reason of said boat race, it is necessary to charge a small 
<br />admission fee to the place and, /or places of vantage along the proposed route of said boat race; and 
<br />WHEREAS, in order to charge an admission fee at the place and /or places of vantage along the proposed route of said 
<br />boat race, it is necessary to control the ingress to said place and /or places; and 
<br />WHEREAS, in order to control the ingress to said place and /or places of vantage, it is necessary to temporarily block 
<br />off the ends of certain streets and /or avenues in the City of South Bend; 
<br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that by and with the consent of 
<br />the Board of Public Safety and the Board of Park Commissioners of said City, the Avalon Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. #48 and 
<br />the Hoosier State Yacht Club are hereby authorized and permitted to block off for a temporary period on Sunday, June 
<br />280 1942, or, if postponed for any reason, then, on Sunday, July 5th, 1942, the South ends of South St. Louis Boule- 
<br />vard, South St. Peter Street, South Notre Dame .Avenue, South St. Francis Street, South Perry Street, the South Eddy 
<br />Street entrance to 1,aSalle Park, and the intersections of Arch Avenue,.East Monroe Street and Bron Street with Edge - 
<br />water Drive. 
<br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motic
