Be it remembered that the'Common "Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session in the Council Chambers, <br />City Hall, Monday, June 23, 1941, at 8:12 P.Me with all members present. President Richardson presided. The read- <br />ing of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />The Clerk read a. communication from the River Park Post 303, The American Legion, Inc. regarding the street lighting <br />system in River Park. On motion of Councilman Heideman, seconded by Councilman Brannan, the communication was place( <br />on file. <br />A communication from the River Park Post 303, The American Legion, Inc., regarding the offensive dumping situation <br />along the St. Joseph River, was read by the Clerk. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the Clerk be directed to <br />answer the communications regarding this situation and advise those who have voiced their objections that the Counci <br />now has an ordinance pending which will be given a public hearing at a special meeting on June 30. Councilman <br />Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF, THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />ITo the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />June 23, 1941 <br />Your Committee of the Whole-to whom was referred "An ordinance providing for the regulation and control of fumigati <br />with poisonous gas and the use of insecticide for elimination and control of insects, vermin, rodents and other <br />pests, providing licenses therefor and providing for a penalty for the violation of said ordinance." <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the <br />Council favorably. <br />Leo M. June 23, 1941 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance reducing the sponsorship of W.P.A. projects, budgetar. <br />item provided for in the 1941 budget of the Department of Public Parks for the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana." <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to <br />Council favorably. �. <br />Leo. Motion carried. <br />June 23, 1941 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance transferring certain funds from the General Fund of <br />the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana, for emergency purposes." <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to <br />the Council favorably. <br />Leo M. Jordan, Chairman <br />Councilman Pulaski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion.
