Be it remembered that the members of the Common Council met in revular session in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Ha11, V�ondey, October 14th, 1940 at 9:40 P. Y. All members with the excep- <br />tion of Councilmen Pulaski were present. President John M. McCarthy presided. The reeding of th <br />previous meeting was waived. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Dear sirs: I desire to bring to your attention pt conditions which effects many patrons who <br />ride the city busses. I notice nearly one -third of these people have to stand after paying thei <br />fare. Due to lack of seating space, why- do you not insist the Bus Transportation Co. put on <br />larger busses or run extra busses. We are entitled to a seat when we pay to ride, ?nother thing <br />I wish to bring to your attention is this, there pre no rear signs on these busses end ppssenger <br />are forced to go to the front to find the name of streets they traverse. <br />L . <br />M. Opkside and High and Oakside be improved with boulevard <br />. lights. <br />The terminus, of the Miami bus line is between Woodside and Oakside on Dale. The nearest street <br />light on Orkeide is at Mimi. Street, e distance of one block, and, to the west at Erskine Boule- <br />vard,n* distp:nce of four blocks. On Woodside there is a light at Miami and Pnother p block to <br />the West -of Dale Street. <br />This is a very desk place Pt night and in order to properly protect the bus drivers And npssengN <br />in this Prep, as well as residents and travelers generally, we feel that this improvement is <br />necessary, pnd we therefore petition your honorable body to pass any necessary legislation end <br />financing to effect this improvement. <br />Petitioners for Improvement <br />per (signed) E.
