Inc.
Mishawaka, Ave., -20th St.,
South Bend, Indiana
At a meeting August 19th of the River Park Civic Association Incorporated a resolution was adopted as follows: re-
solved that all vacant houses and shacks in River Park that have been condemned as being unfit for human occupancy
either be remodeled and put into livable condition or be torn down, thereby adding to the general appearance of the
community. A copy of this resolution be sent to the proper officials of the city of South Bend urging action be
taken at the and of the condemnation period.
The above resolution is aimed at certain property owners who have built or have rented buildings for living quarter
and who have not kept the same in a livable and presentable condition. The Association feels that it is unfair to
the property owners who keep their homes and yards in good condition to have these condemned shacks in their neigh-
borhood. Almost without exception the owners of the properties involved are not residents of. River Park and there-
fore care little about the beauty of our district.
HRH/da
Yours very respectfully,
THE RIVER PARK CIVIC ASSO. INC.
H. R. Humphrey
Councilman Bishop made a motion to have the communication referred to the Fire Department. Councilman Brannon
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
