Motion <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: <br />July 12, 1940 <br />Because of the number of bad fires that have occurred in recent years in plants storing rags, paper, etc., and be- <br />cause of the complaints arising in the vicinity of such storage and the storage of junk and salvaged materials, the <br />City Plan Commission at their meeting July llth, recommended the following change be made by amendment to Ordinance. <br />23319 the Zoning Ordinance of the city. <br />That Ordinance No. 2331 be amended by adding Item No. 10 to Section 7, reading: "Junk Yards, Yards for wrecking <br />automobiles, collection and storing of rags, paper, metals and sundry reclaimed materials." <br />This provision would require these establishments to be approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals, after a hearing, <br />before they can occupy any new location. <br />Yours truly, <br />D. Motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3327 <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND AND FIREMEN'S <br />ASSEMBLY OF INDIANA, 80TH 6ESS10119 1937. <br />This ordinance was given third reading and was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE #332 8 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING CERTAIN FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND OF THE <br />CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPAIR OF <br />EQUIPMENT FUND FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES. <br />This ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Hull made a motion for the <br />suspension of the rules. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Rules suspended by roll call 'vote of 9 ayes - 0 <br />nays. The ordinance was given third reading by title. Councilman Jordan made a motion that the ordinance be re- <br />ferred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing at the next meeting of the Committee of the Whole on <br />August 12th. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. President McCarthy suggested in lieu of the second reading of <br />the ordinance the Clerk be instructed to furnish each Council member a copy of the ordinance and that the ordin <br />be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on August 12th. <br />RESOLUTION <br />BE IT RESOLVED By the Common Council of the City of South Bend, that the Judge of the St. Joseph Circuit Court is <br />hereby requested to appoint three disinterested freeholders of this City for the appraisement of the follows ng <br />described personal property owned by this City situated in the County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana, to -brit: <br />Barrett Law bonds and coupons for the year 1931 owned by the City of South Bend, <br />and issued pursuant to Resolution No. 1863, providing for McKinley Avenue pave- <br />ment from Sunnyside to Greenlawn, Roll No. 2144; and <br />Barrett Law bonds and coupons for the year 1931 owned by the City of South Bend, <br />and issued pursuant to Resolution No. 1923, providing for McKinlly Avenue pave- <br />ment from Greenlawn to Twenty- Second Street, Roll No. 2235; and <br />All of the right, title and interest of said City in and to any assessments levied on account of said conds owned <br />by said City, with the view of selling the same. <br />Councilman Hull made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution.
