REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE 12%439 To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance regulating and licensing skating rinks and providing a penalty for the violation thereof ", Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion the ordinance shall be amended to read "Roller Skating Rinks" and shall be given favorable consideration by the Council. Councilman Pulaski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. Motion ca REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES To the Common`Council -of the City of South Bend: Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. Motion ORDINANCE N0, 3307 AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1275 ADOPTED AUGUST 27th, 1904, AND ENTITLED =ORDINANCE COMPELLING THE SHELTERING AND COVERING.OF SCALES - This ordinance was given third reading by the Clerk. ORDINANCE NO. 3308 (as amended) AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING ROLLER SKATING RINKS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. December 12, 1939 The Common Council•of the City of South Bend: Gentlemen: I am presenting herewith a proposed Ordinance amending Section 19 of Ordinance 2979, which is an Ordinance regard- ing the operation of Taxi Cabs. Section 19 has to do with the filing of bonds and insurance by the Taxi Cab Owners and operators, insuring the public against any loss of property or damages as a result of person injuries. The Section in the Ordinance as it now stands is drawn in a manner that -is confusing and insurance men writing policies under the Ordinance have had difficulty in ascertaining just what the Ordinance requires.. This new Ordinance is submitted for the purpose of clearing up these provisions and making it definite just what is expect- ed in the way of insurance coverage by the owner of the Taxi Cabs. Very truly, GEO. N. BEP2AER City Attorney ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2.979, entitled "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF TAXI-CABS". This ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Hull made a motion that that ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,_ INDIANA, AND INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY Councilman Richardson made a motion that the ordinance and contract be brought before the Committee of the Whole and that public hearing be held and that a representative of the Electric Company be present at the meeting to explain the terms used. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, an Indiana Corporation. Councilman Richardson made a motion that the ordinance and contract be brought before the Committee of the Whole and that public hearing be held and that a represent ative of the Electric Company be present at the meeting to explain the terms used. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried. The above two ordinance were given first reading by title and second reading in full. A request was made that members of the Council be supplied with copies of the above two contracts. There being no further business, Councilman Bishop made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.
