Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular <br />session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, November 27, 1939,, at 9 :15 P.M. President <br />McCarthy presided. Councilman Brannon was absent. The reading of the minutes of the previous <br />metting was suspended.. <br />Councilman Niezgodski. made a motion that the plan outlined in the report of the Board, of Safety,', <br />as read in Council meeting_ November 13, whereby the crossing of Olive Street and the Chic ago, <br />South.Shore and South Bend Railway would be a safety stop for all trains, be accepted as reporte+ <br />Councilman Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE. <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred an ordinance reducing the coal and ice fund <br />budgetary item provided for in the 1939 budget of the Department of Public Parks for the civil <br />city of South Bend, Indiana, respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in <br />their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to the Council favor ably. <br />Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Niezgodski seconded t <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred an- ordinance transferring certain funds from 1 <br />General Fund of the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana, for emergency purposes, respectfully <br />report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be <br />given favorable consideration. <br />Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Bishop seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Commitee of the Whole to whom was referred the Bicycle Registration Ordinance, respectfully <br />report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be kept <br />in the Committee of the Whole until Monday, December 4. <br />Councilman Pulaski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Bishop seconded the' <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />A report from the Board of Public Safety was requested regarding the petition for ade4uate <br />protection for,children attending Benjamin Franklin school and crossing at Lincolnway East <br />and Bronson streets. This report had not been received so Mr. George Beamer reported verbally <br />that arrangements had been made to have a policeman stationed at the corner of Lincolnway East <br />and Bronson, Strreets from 7 :45 to 9 :15 A.M. on school days, and that other arrangements for <br />the noon and afternoon periods were being considered.
