O'Brien St.
South Bend, Ind.
June 30, 1939
I want to enter my protest against the installation of parking meters in South Bend. I am famil:
with their use in Toledo, Ohio. The people dislike them very much there and do their parking an(
shopping where there are no meters. A number of meters have been broken and. in some cases the
money in them has been stolen.
I claim that the people have a right to park on the public streets of South Bend without any
charge. All that is necessary is strict enforcement of present parking regulations. I have
talked with many friends on this subject and not a one is in favor of the meters.
So I suggest that you get the opinion of a number of people` before you install any meters, as
I am sure the general public is against them.
Yours truly,
L.
