REGULAR MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />SEPTEMBER 12th, 1938- <br />Be it remembered thet the Common Council met in 'the Regular session in the Council Chambers <br />In the City Hall, Monday evening, $ePtember 12th, et the hour of 7 :45 P. M. All members <br />were present except Councilmen Rasmussen, Kerner and James. President Hull presided. <br />The reading of the minutes were dispensed with on the motion of Councilman Fish and seconded <br />by Councilmen Bierwagen. carried. <br />CO�!�UNI CATION: <br />I G N A T I U S K . COMMISSIONER OF DEEDS FOR INDIANA <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />To the Honor?ble Members of the Common Cor0.ncil <br />of the city of south Bend, Indiana. <br />Honorable Sirs: <br />Sept. 11th, 1939 <br />Enclosed copies of resolution adopted by the Legislature of the State of Indiana, also by the <br />last session of United States Congress, proclaiming October 11th; 1938 as Generel Pulaski's . <br />Memoriel nay, therefore it would be appropriate in compliance of same to have the Common <br />Council of the city of 6outh Bend, Indiana_, adopt a similar resolution end desigaete OCTOBER <br />11th, 1939 as GENERAL PULASKI'S MEMORIAL DAY in the City of South Bend, Indian6, eeking and in- <br />viting the people of south Bend to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable <br />places, with eppropriate ceremonies in commemoration of the death of General Casimir Pulaski, <br />the Hero of the Revolutionary War. <br />Very cordially yours, <br />Ignetius K. Werwinski <br />Councilman Goetz moved that said be referred to the Mayor and City Attorney to draft resolution. <br />Councilmen Fish seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITIOY: <br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF SOUTH BEND, IND. <br />The undersigned residents in the City of South Bend, and'more particularly within the immediete <br />vicinity of the Fellow Street Bus Line, respectfully petition the Honoarble Body to take such <br />steps as may be e.dvisable and necessary to maintain the operation of the bus line on Fellow <br />Street daily every 20 minutes and every 30 minutes all day on Sunday and holidays and to <br />prevent any elimination. . <br />We also request that the Sunday service on said bus line be extended from 9 A.M. to 9 P.V., <br />Instead of the present service which is limited from 9 A.M. to 12 noon. <br />(188 signers) <br />Councilmen Goetz moved.that seid petition be referred to the Boerd of Works and thst they <br />take immediate steps to rectify same. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE -NO. 32 9 <br />An Ordinance epproprin.ting the sum of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) from the funds to be <br />received from the Auditor of St. Joseph County under order of the Portage Township Trustee for <br />funds to be supplied to assist the Municipal City of South Bend in the sponsoring of projects <br />pursuant to an agreement filed with this body entered into by and between the Board of Public <br />Works and Safety and the Portage Township Trustee and to be a. fund known as the Special W.P.A. <br />Fund. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reeding by title, its second reading in full. Councilman <br />Chembers moved that slid Ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole and public hear- <br />ing Qn September 26th. Councilmen Bierwagen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />0RDI1,ANCE NO. 3260 <br />An Ordinance appropriating the sum of Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) from the funds to be <br />received from the Auditor of St. Joseph County under order of the Porta.�e Township Trustee <br />for funds to be supplied to assist the Municipal City of South Bend in the sponsoring of pro- <br />jects pursuant to en agreement filed with this body entered into by and between`the department <br />of Public Parks end the Portage Township Trustee and to be a Fund known as Account #712A. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full. Councilmen <br />Chambers moved that said ordinance be r eferred to the Committee of the Whole and public hear- <br />ing on September 26th. Councilman Palicki seconded the motion. Motion carried, <br />RESOLUTION: <br />RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS APPROVING THE ACTION OF THE OFFICIALS OF SAID <br />PARK BOARD IN ENTERING INTO A CERTAIN CONTRACT WITH ALEX LANGEL, PORTAGE TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE, <br />FOR THE JOINT SPONSORSHIP OF CERTAIN PROJECTS UNDER DATE OF AUGUST 5th, 1938) A COPY OF WHICH <br />CONTRACT IS FTLED WITH THE MINUTES OF THIS BOARD. <br />BE 'IT RESOLVED by the Board of Park Commissioners of the Municipal City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />That said Park Board. does now officially concur in the action of the President and Secretary <br />of said Park Board in entering into a certain written contract with the Trustee of Portage <br />Township, Alex La.ngel, under date of August 5th, 1938, for the joint sponsorship of certain <br />projects in the furnishing of materials on the part of the Park Board, and the furnishing of <br />money by the Trustee, and the furnishing of men by the Trustee, all as set forth in said con- <br />tract above referred to be in all things retified and confirmed by this body, and that the said <br />
