DIR <br />LIMC <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />MINUTES <br />APRIL 19th, 1938 <br />Be it remembered that the common Council met in the Committee of the Whale Meeting in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Hell, Monday evening, April 18th, at the - of 7 :47 P. ltd, <br />All members were present except Councilman James. Chairm'.n Goetz preided. <br />RUM VILLAGE PARK <br />Mr. Hayes stated that the Oliver family agreed verbally in giving 74 acres for $15,000.00, <br />nothing need be paid from this years budget. Payment to be made in 3,4 or 5 years with 3% <br />interest. Corners up to Ewing Avenue Park site. Olivers will give. deed with lein written in <br />It with 3% interest agreed upon. <br />Mr. Freemen read letter from Mr. Perkings whose property includes 1 block across from the <br />Rum village woods for $7.500.00 to be paid within five years without interest. <br />Mayor Freyermuth stated that he h €s studied this with the Park Board and that the Council <br />should give them thet much encouragment by accepting whet the-Park Board has,to offer. <br />Councilmen Rasmussen moved that the Park proposition presented by the Park Board go favorably <br />to the council. L. U. go on record endorsing the Merit System in the selection <br />of all City and Municippl Employees. <br />We believe that the Merit System will eliminate the loss of employment by men needing sane,, <br />through the change of political administration. <br />We, therefore, beg of you to consider favorably the ordinance introduced by Councilman Chambers <br />in behe.lf of City Employees calling for the Merit System. <br />Thanking you-in-?.advance, we remain. <br />Yours .respectfully, <br />Paul R.
