11 REGULAR MEETING APRIL Ilth, 1938 <br />MINUTES <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council met in the Regular Session in the Council Chambers <br />in the City Hall, Monday evening April 11th, at the hour of 7:40 P. M.* All members were <br />present except Councilmen Kerner. President Hull presided. The reeding of the minutes were <br />dispensed with on motion of Councilman Chambers end seconded ty Councilman Fish. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION: <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ACTION OF THE SOUTH BEND WATER WORKS BOARD IN ACCEPTING THE BID OF <br />HAY- WEAVER CO. TO INSTALL FOUNDATIONS AND BRICK WORK FOR THE BOILERS AT THE NORTH PUMPING <br />STATION. <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />That the action of the Board of Public Works and Safety, acting as the South Bend Wate'r Works <br />Board, under ds.te of April 11th in accepting the bid of Hay-= Weaver Co. to erect the foundation <br />end brick work for two (2) boilers end stokers to be erected in the North Pumping Station at <br />their lour bid in the sum of Four Thousand Three Hundred Fifteen Dollars ($4315.00) in conformity <br />with a copy of the bid which is filed herewith, made a part hereof and marked Exhibit A for <br />purpose of reference, be ratified and approved by this body; that the proper officials be auth- <br />orized end- - directed to carry out the intent of da.id acceptance of said bid. <br />This 11th day of April, 1938. <br />Councilmen Chambers moved that said resolution be adopted. <br />motion. Hull <br />MEMBER OF COMMON COUNCIL <br />Councilman Rasmussen seconded the <br />RES0 LUT - I ON <br />WHEREAS, the American Legion Post No. 50 of South Bend, India.ne., <br />on the St. Joseph River Sunday afternoon, May 22nd, 1938, and <br />proposes to hold a boat race <br />WHEREAS, in order to effectually realize any funds by reason of said boat race it is necessary <br />to charge 2 smell sdmissi ®n fee to the place and / or places of vantage along the proposed <br />route of seid_ boat re.ce; and <br />WHERrAS, in order to charge an admission fee the place and / or places of vantage along the pro- <br />posed route of said boat race it is necessary to control the ingress to sa.id place and / or <br />places; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to control the ingress to said places and / or places of vantage it is nec- <br />essary to temporarily block off the ends of certain streets and / or avenues in the City of <br />South Bend; therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana., that by and with the <br />consent of the Board of Public Safety Pnd the Bo=ard of Park Commissioners of said City, the <br />American Legion Post No. 50 is hereby authorized and permitted to block off fora. temporary <br />period on Sunday May 22nd, 1958, the South ends of South St. Louis Boulevard, South St. Peter <br />Street, South Notre Dame Avenue, South St. Francis street, the South Eddy Street entrance to <br />LaSalle Park, and the intersections of Arch Avenue end East Monroe Streets with Edgewater Drive. <br />Geo.
