Chairman Goetz presided. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />The Common Council, <br />South Bend, Indianp <br />Gentlemen: <br />C I T Y O F S 0 U T H B E N D I N D I A N A <br />OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br />February 21, 1938 <br />The Mpyor has investigated many complaints that have been made in regard to there being no <br />through artery to har_dle north P:n� south traffic between Olive Pnd Walnut Streets, a, distance <br />of more than one hPlf mile. <br />The Mayor recommends thPt the Council appoint .a committee of three to join with the Board of <br />P,ublid Work§ to study the Pdviarbility of cnening Brookfield Street from Western Avenue to <br />the north. M. Greenhoe of the South Bend Ministerial Association was read also fram <br />the Council of Social Agencies of South Bend, Indiana., �Jo A. N. Kingsafet, Bartenders Union <br />LocPl 103 and Edward. Kluth, U. A. W. local 144 in fevor of a Housing Authority. <br />They were accepted by the council Pnd referred to the Housing <br />Mrs. HPmbley, Mr. Billings Pnd Mr. Crook spoke in favor of a Housing Authority. <br />Councilman Goetz su --vests that when the Housing Committee meets, that X:{r. Arnold meet with. <br />them. <br />Councilmen Hull moved th ^t the Housing Committee investigate the housing condition and re- <br />nort back to the council on March 7th. Councilman Pnlicki seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />There being no further business Counci.l,,mPn Mull moved to ad.j ourn. Counci lmnn Chambers <br />seconded the ,,oticrr.
