Councilman Kerner moved thet the following amendments be made be follows.: <br />I the undersigned member of the Election Committee wishea,.to make the following amendment <br />to-Ordirence #3232, which amends Ordinance #3039, establishing Councilmenic Districts in the <br />City. <br />It is found that said. Ordinance #3232 Ps proposed shows that there were approximately fourteen <br />hundred (1400) more voters in the lest election in the proposed District No. Six (6)'ever and <br />rbove the number who -voted in the proposed District Nc. Five (5). In order to equalize said <br />vote it is the undersigned's recommendetion that Sections Six (6) and Sever. (7) of said. propose <br />Ordinance be amended to reQd ss follows: <br />SECTION VI - The Fifth District shall be bounded as follows: Beginning at the inter.sect'_on of <br />the center of the St. Joseph River end the center cf Ironwood Drive; thence south along the <br />center of Ironwood Drive to the intersection of the southerly limits of the city; thence West <br />along the southerly and westerly limits and. thereafter following the course of the southerly <br />and westerly limits mainly in a southerly, westerly end northerly direction to the intersection <br />of the said southerly limits with the center lire of South Chapin. Street projected; thence north <br />along the -center line of Bhppin Street projected south and South Chapin Street to the center of <br />West Sample Street: thence East along_ the center line of West Sample Street to the center line <br />of South Lefeyette Boulevard; thence South along the center line of south Lafayette Boulevard <br />to the center line of West Indiana Avenue; -thence East slong the center of East and West Indinn2 <br />Avenue to the center of Clyde Street; thence North along the center of Clyde Street to the cent- <br />er of the St. Joseph River; thence easterly to the center of the river at Ironwood Drive the <br />place of beginning. <br />VII - The Sixth District shell be bounded as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the <br />westerly limits of the City of South Bend with the center of the New York Central Railroad ripht <br />of way; thence running easterly end southerly along the center of said right of wey to the <br />intersection of said right of way of Walnut Street at Western Avenue; thence easterly along the <br />center of -Western Avenue to the intersection of South Lafayette Boulevard with the center of <br />Western Avenue; the southerly along the center of said South Lafayette Boulevard to the <br />center line of Sample Street; thence west along the center of Sample Street to the center line <br />of Chapin Street; Thence south along the center lire of Chapin Street and Chapin Street project- <br />ed to the southerly limits of the City; thence west following the course mainly north and vest <br />along said southerly limits to the intersection -of the said southerly limits with the westerly <br />limits of said City; thence north along said westerly limits to the place of beginning. <br />Respectfully submitte, <br />Fred G. Kepner. and Rasmussen - 2 nays. <br />ORDINANCE N0. -?3232 as aataended. <br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance #3039 establishing councilmanic districts in the City of <br />South Bend be dividing seid City into six such.councilmanic districts, and fixing their bound- <br />aries, and providing for the use of voting machines in elections for nominating and electing <br />officers of -eeid City, and repealing all ordinAnces and pa rts of ordinances in conflict there- <br />with.,' <br />The Ordirence was given its third reading bl. title and was placed upon its passage and <br />gassed by the following vote: Hull, Bierwagen, Fish, Chambers and Palicki. - 5 ayes. Council- <br />men Kerner and, Rasmussen walked out of the meeting during the third re?.d.ing after being a, stied <br />by Councilman Chambers to stay. Ordinance adopted as amended. <br />ORDIATANCE NO. 3233 <br />An Ordinance ch2nging the names of certain described. streets in the City of South Bend. <br />The Ordinance was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full. Council- <br />man Hull moved to suspend the rules, rind that said ordinance go to third reading. Councilmen <br />Bierwegen seconded the motion. Carried. <br />Roll call - Hull, Bierwagen, Kerner, Fish, Chambers, Rasmussen and Palicki - 7 ayes. 0 nays. <br />Rules euspended.and ordinance goes to third reading. <br />The Ordinance was given its third reading by title and placed upon its passage and passed <br />by the following vote: Hull, Bierwagen, Kerner, Fish, Chambers, Rasmussen and Palicki - 7 ayes, <br />0 .npys. Ordinance adopted. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3234 <br />An Ordinance emending Ordinance #2331, passed by the Council_ June 25, 1923, end commonly <br />known s the Zoning Ordinence. <br />The Ord.inence was given its first reading by title, its second reading in full and on <br />motion. of Councilman Hull`°wasrreferr.ed =:to the Comp +ittee of the.4hole for further consideration- <br />and public hearing on 25th of October. Councilman Chambers seconded the motion. Motion carne <br />COUNCILMAN HULL GAVE REPORT OF THE TRAFFIC COMVITTEE ON REROTTTING TRUCKS THRU CITY: <br />The tref.fic committee has gone over rerouting carefully and will heve to get the coopera <br />tion of Mishpwske. It will take some time before the route will be in affect. The Traffic <br />Committee will cell in Mishewake nand. * "r. Keller will notify the state men when we are to meet. <br />There being no %further business Councilmen Chambers moved to adjourn. Councilman Hull second- <br />ed the motion.. Motion cerried .
