MINUTES <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met inthe <br />Committee of the whole in the council chambers of the City hall, Nedr_esday evening, September <br />29th, 1937, at the hour of 7:30 P. M. All'members were present except Councilmen Goetz and <br />James. Councilmen Hull presided. <br />MARY B . . L . Committee, <br />City Council, South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: <br />We the undersigned taxicab operators in the City of South Bend, have acrefully investigated and <br />condidered a proposed amendment to the present ordinance regulating taxicab operation in the <br />city. <br />It is our opinion that the present texicab-ordinance is entirely satisfactory, and that at the <br />present time there is no need for the proposed amendment. <br />Respectfully yours <br />South Bend Cab Co. <br />Otto Entzien, Pres. <br />Yellow Cab Co. <br />A. Meerick Clyde Huanber.ger <br />Accepted by the council end ordered to be placed on file. <br />The followiniz report of the Traffic Committee was read: <br />September 29, 1937 <br />Honorable Body City Council <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Meeting as Committee of Thole <br />Following are the facts found by the traffic committee with reference to ordinance No. 3231, <br />regarding operation of Taxicnbb: <br />Out of 15 licensed taxicab operators in South Bend, 14 are satisfied with the present ordir..aance.. <br />Out of a membership of 136 taxicab drivers, we find many who Are satisfied with the present <br />ordinance. <br />We also find that 65 per cent of the taxi users are satisfied with the present ordinance. <br />After consulting with operators and.taxi drivers also a personal research with users, we re- <br />commend that ordir_erc e No. 3231 be tabled. <br />
