<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend,.Indiann, met in the
<br />Special Session in the Council Chembers of the City Hall, Wednesday evening. June 23rd, 1937,
<br />at the hour of 7:40 P. M. All members were present. President Fish presiddd.

<br />You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority by law vested in me as
<br />Mayor of the City of South Bend, Of the State of Indiana., a special meeting of the Common
<br />Council of said City- is hereby called to be held at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P. M. or as soon
<br />thereafter es convenient, on Wednesday evening, June 23rd, 1937, in the Council Chambers in
<br />said City, for the purpose of granting permission to hold carnival in -accordance to the follow-
<br />ing resolution:
<br />"The resolution approving the action of the Police Department and the
<br />City Controller in waiving €. license fee for the carnival operating on
<br />Prairie Avenue under the auspices of the American Legion Post 450."

<br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE WAIVING OF A LTCENSE FEE
<br />CARNIVAL OPERATING ON PRAIRIE AVENUE UNDER THE
<br />AUSPICES OF Am- ERICAN LEGION POST NUMBER 50,
<br />WHEREAS, the American Legion Post Number 50 hae requested that the City
<br />a carnival to eppepr in the City of South Bend on Prairie,4venue under
<br />payment of a license fee as provided by Ordinance #2751 of this council

<br />WHEREAS, it is the seneF of this body end. the feeling of the members hereof that in view of
<br />the fact thet said carnival is promoted under the suspices of the American Legion. Post Number
<br />50, which is an organization not for profit, but en orgPnizati.cn to promote the betterment of
<br />the members End the well being of society in general erd has performed certain noteworthy pub-
<br />lic service in the immediate rAst, en.d since it is the sense and felling of this body that se.id
<br />patriotic organization in receiving P. shAre =of the profits of said enterprise they should not
<br />be subject to,the imposition of a license fee.
<br />It is the sense of this council end this council does resolve that the City Controller be
<br />directed to we,ive the license fee for said carnival and. to permit the said carnival to show in
<br />line with the exceptions set forth in Section 4 of Ordinance #1751, adopted by this council on
<br />November 23, 1914.,;,, S. games

<br />Councilmen Hull moved that said resolution be adopted. Councilmen Goetz seconded the motion.
<br />Motion carried.
