Dear Sir:: At our regular meeting.,, action was taken protesting the setting .of a forty cent,
per hour-wage scale for common labor*"
The union wage scale of the common laborers, fifty cents per hour, was accepted
asbthe prevailing wage scales on government-work heregand on a former ocassion the City count$
appr6ved of fifty cents which ist the union scale,of the Common Laborers local union.#645- to
approve of a lower scale would be,to jeopardize.these workers.
Organized labor during these times of stress has txied'to maintain the Americam
standard of living , things are now on the upgrade, and wagesz are supposed to increase, instea
of decrease with;kriaies-increasing steadily fifty cents per hour is a very conservative wages
and it is hoped that the City Council, will not go- against its former position in this matter,
We hope for your co operation in ttLis.matter in behalf of the common laborers,,
Dear Sirs: Mr, Charlers,A* Jordan has employed us to collect his account with the Anviation
Commission for the removal and reconstruction of the hangars from the aviation field east of
the city to the Bendix Airport. You have his I bill, which is in excess of #1,400.001,
.
Mr. Jordan is a man of limited means and owes a considerable portion-of this., We
money to laborers who worked with him, all of whom are desperately in need of their money,
can hardly conceive of any reason why Mr' Jordan and his employees-are held-out of their money
a3id, while it is their desireto be lreas;nables, nevertheless, on account of the manner in whic
this account has been delayed, we must ask that he be paid not later June 296' Otherwise, it wi
be our duty to take proper legal action to collect
We are addressing this letter to each body that we believe has any interest in
