3 <br />January 23rd, 1933 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council ofthe City of South Bend, Indiana., met in the <br />Regular Session in the Council Chnmbers in the-City Hall, Monday evening, January 23rd, 1933, <br />at the hour of,8.05 P. 11. All members present. President Nelson presided. The Mknutes of <br />the previous meeting were reed end on Motion of Co�ncilmar_ Hull were accepted as react. <br />Motion carried. <br />Communication: South Bend, Indiana, January 16, 1933. To the City Council of the <br />City of South Bend,_South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />The proposal of Mr. Altfeld to the Council to pass a resolution to "Buy American <br />Ma.de.Goods ",end your turning down his ?proposition, vvas very interesting to the members of <br />our Association. <br />Will you permit us to suggest that if the Council would pass a resolution to <br />"Buy exclusively from Horne Owned Stores" end then make the suggestion to the citizens of <br />South Bend that they do likewise, we believe the problem would be solved, at least locally. <br />We really believe if the public was educated - concerning the sense of fairness and <br />reciprocity — dealing with business- men who live here and support our city government with <br />their taxes — the people would buy from South Bend merchants in order to keep South Bend <br />money in South.Bend. <br />The undersigned members of our Association are asking that this letter be sent to <br />your Council as it is the unanimous opinion of our Association. <br />Sincerely, <br />SOUTH BEND GROCERS & BUTCHERS ASSIN. <br />(countersigned) By Henry R. Respectfully <br />report that they have examined the matter, and that in their opinion the said Official <br />Bond should be reported favorable. John C. Hiss, Chairman. <br />OFFICIAL BOND OF DUNCAN J. CAMPBELL, COUNTY TREASURER EX— OFFICIO CITY TREASURER as principal <br />and the Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York as surety was presented to the Council. <br />On Motion of Councilman Grzeskowiek the Bond was approved by the Council.
